“ Very cozy and cute, excellent smash burger, amazing chicken pot pie. The hostess girl was a bit rude she could have had better communication and customer service skills considering location and price. We sat at the bar. But the negative first interaction didn’t matter at that point because the food was excellent and our server/bartender was GREAT. She was sweet, helpful, kind, funny, attentive, professional, and all the great qualities missing nowadays in customer service! Other wait staff was also very nice and attentive professional towards us! Burger came out fast and cooked to perfection! Amazing Wagyu beef patty! The garlic aioli was We walked in at an odd time on a random weekday, and it wasn’t busy at all! Def top 10 burgers in Chicago! ”

“ Our second time here. The food is amazing - upscale Indian-British pub food (with some other things). We split the Chicory, Mango, Paneer salad; the Steak & Ale Pot Pie*; the English Cut Prime Rib Sandwich; and the Sticky Date Cake (pictured). If you like prime rib sandwiches, this one was fantastic and was my favorite part of the meal. A friend said the Date Cake was the best thing he had ever eaten. I thought it was very good, but perhaps a bit too sweet for me so I can't agree with him. Service was excellent. We ate outside, which was simple. And preferred; the inside looks like an old English cave-turned-bar. Note the menu states they will ask you to pay a 3.25% surcharge, but you can ask to remove it. I'm not a fan of that; just include the price in your menu offering! It adds stress to people. * We ordered the Chicken Pot Pie, but received this one. Turns out it was delicious as well! ”

“ I walked past this place once and had a feeling I needed to try it. So I booked it for my graduation, and it ended up making the day even more special. The atmosphere was lovely, and the food was Amazing. Every dish we ordered was packed with flavor though I’ll admit, the salad was the only thing that fell a bit flat. My top two favorites were the Chicken Breast Masala was incredibly tender and full of rich flavor and the Lamb Chop, which was perfectly cooked and just so satisfying. I I really recommended The Sticky Date Cake. I could honestly come back just for that. Every bite was warm, rich, slightly sweet, and completely addictive. It totally knocked me out (in the best way). Reservations are highly recommended it gets busy, and parking can be tricky during peak hours. But it’s super close to the Armitage Brown Line, so public transit is a great option. Already planning my next visit! ”

“ This restaurant is really hard to get into but we got lucky and were able to get a res at 5:30 on a Sunday evening. We were sat within a few minutes of arriving. There’s really no room inside to wait. It’s tight quarters. The space is something else (in a great way). It’s like walking into a time warp back to the early 20th century. Dark wood everywhere, dozens of oil paintings in elaborate frames, dimmed lighting and period fixtures, Victorian table lamps lining the dark wood bar, textured wallpaper and a giant fireplace in the center of the dining room. The service was impeccable. We were greeted right after we were seated and gave our drink order. We ordered a Penicillin and the Mumbai Mule. Both were delicious. For appetizers we ordered the samosas and naan with whipped feta spread. Both were delicious but I could have made a meal out of the samosas alone. They were the best that I’ve ever had! For dinner we got a prime rib sandwich and wagyu double cheeseburger. My son and his partner ordered the curries. One had chicken and the other had shrimp. I wasn’t very impressed with the prime rib sandwich. The cheeseburger was also good but the real winner was the curries. I will definitely order it next time. If you are looking for a unique and delicious experience to try then this is an excellent choice. The ambiance is mesmerizing and the service was excellent. I also would like to try some of the other food options. Be aware, in case of food allergies, that the French fries are cooked in beef tallow and it is also in the pot pies. That said, the fries are delicious. As far as cost, be prepared for a higher price point than a typical tavern. There were four of us. We each had two cocktails, the table shared two apps and for dinner our entrees were two curries and two sandwiches. Our total before tip was $350.00 ”

“ If you’re looking for a pub that feels like it was ripped straight out of a Victorian novel but with better lighting and significantly more butter, Armitage Alehouse is it. We waltzed in on a Friday afternoon expecting a crowd, but the universe (and maybe the alehouse gods) smiled on us. We were sat at the bar, only a 10 minute wait. Now, let’s talk food. The cheeseburger? Absolute sorcery. It’s like they took the DNA of every mediocre burger I’ve ever had in my life and said, “never again.” Perfectly cooked, juicy, and fully of flavors that make you rethink all your life choices up to this point. My husband got the spiced lamb pie, which he described as basically what would happen if comfort food went to Oxford and graduated with honors. The flaky crust alone deserves its own fan club, but the filling? Rich, warming, subtly spiced, like being hugged by a charming British uncle who may or may not have fought in the Spice Wars. And then came the sticky date cake. Oh, sweet mercy. If you don’t order it, you are actively choosing sadness. I’m not kidding when I say I teared up upon its arrival. I had been waiting for this moment for years. It’s sticky, it’s sweet, it’s decadent and buttery, but somehow not too heavy. It’s the kind of dessert that could single-handedly end family feuds. I have been dreaming of it and I will continue to. Armitage Alehouse isn’t just a meal, it’s an experience. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Would recommend to my worst enemy just so they know what joy feels like. ”
